Hand Botox (Treatment for Excessive Hand Sweating)
Hand Botox has long been used as a safe, practical and effective way to treat excessive hand sweating. By blocking the signals that reach the sweat glands in the hand, it reduces sweating and offers noticeable social relief for around 6 months. Being non-surgical and easy to repeat are its main advantages.
The Botox preparation used for hand sweating is the same one used for facial Botox. At the injection site it blocks the release of acetylcholine, the nerve messenger that triggers sweating, so the eccrine (sweat) glands produce less sweat. The effect is limited to the sweat glands and does not cause numbness in the hand.
An experienced specialist first marks the areas of your palms to be treated. Botox is then injected into the marked points using very fine needles, at doses tailored to your palms.
The effect usually begins after about one week and becomes fully apparent within 10–14 days. Depending on how quickly your body breaks down Botox, the reduction in sweating lasts around 6 months.
